Michael’s family has been a crucial contributor to his success. His golf pro father, Gary, honed his natural talent before he even allowed him on a course, with six months of intensive training on hitting the ball at age 15. With his technique perfected, Michael reached scratch within two years and turned pro at age 25 in 1999.

The Wright family’s golfing traditions continue today, with Michael’s 3 and 5 year old boys often tagging along to practice their swing alongside their dad. Balancing his family and career commitments is one of Michael’s top priorities, and he takes every opportunity he can to get back from overseas to be spend time with the boys and his wife Joann.
